On August 26th, I was honoured to host the Prime Minister, as he visited the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus of Niagara College. With the new school year fast approaching, the Prime Minister was interested in exploring some of the programs available to post-secondary students in Niagara.
As part of the visit, we toured the campus teaching winery with college president Dan Patterson, as well as students and faculty from the teaching winery program. The Prime Minister and I were amazed by the advanced and innovative working done to teach students the finer points of the viticulture and winemaking.
The Prime Minister is a strong supporter of the Canadian wine industry, and his excitement was visible as we were guided by the students through each of the steps in their program. The Prime Minister noted that he was impressed with the level ion detail that goes into teaching stunts about viticulture, and was pleased to see that Niagara College was dedicating the resources necessary to develop cutting edge programs like the teaching winery.
